Lucknow: Access to quality healthcare remains challenging for many women, particularly in smaller towns and underserved areas. Cultural stigmas, financial limitations, and lack of awareness often prevent women from seeking timely medical attention. To bridge this growing gap, Sanjivini Super Speciality Hospital has taken a proactive step by organizing a Free Gynaecology Consultation Camp every Saturday throughout May 2025.

This initiative, led by the Women Care Department of the hospital, offers vital health checkups and exclusive discounts on essential services. The camp is spearheaded by Dr. Humaira Siddiqui (MBBS, MS – FIMS, JMMCH, AMU Aligarh), a seasoned gynecologist and obstetrician with years of dedication toward women’s healthcare.

Dr. Siddiqui brings with her the rich expertise of having served as a consultant at prestigious healthcare institutions like Motherhood Hospital (Delhi-NCR) and Cloudnine Hospital (Gurugram), further enhancing the credibility and trustworthiness of this special camp.

Dr. Siddiqui’s journey into medicine was born out of a deep, innate passion to serve humanity. Although her parents did not come from a medical background, she drew inspiration from other family members associated with the profession. Educated at CMS Lucknow and later at Aligarh Muslim University, her training laid a strong foundation for her specialization in gynecology.

She believes that the first step in improving women’s health is spreading awareness about personal hygiene, preventive care, and timely diagnosis. She often observes that many women avoid visiting OPDs due to high consultation costs or a lack of understanding. This camp aims to counter that by offering free vital checks, including blood pressure, hemoglobin, sugar levels, and more.

In fact, an internal analysis at Sanjivini Super Speciality Hospital reveals a concerning trend: nearly 60% of female patients tend to visit the hospital only at a later stage of illness, often when symptoms have worsened or complications have already set in. Shockingly, around 45% of these late-diagnosed cases involve conditions that could have been easily prevented or managed if detected earlier.

This highlights the urgent need for initiatives like the Free Consultation Camp, aimed at promoting early detection and preventive health practices among women.

To promote preventive care, the camp offers 40% off on all gynecological, obstetric, and breast scans, 25% off on PAP smears, and 10% off on cervical cancer vaccinations. Dr. Siddiqui stresses that these tests are necessities, not optional luxuries, especially with the rising cases of breast and cervical cancer—two of the most common cancers affecting Indian women today.

She highlights the importance of routine ultrasounds, antenatal care, and addressing pubertal and menopausal concerns. According to her, early detection is the key to better outcomes. “Women must not ignore signs, however minor they may seem,” she emphasizes.

Dr. Siddiqui also believes that gynecologists need not just qualifications but also compassion and excellent communication skills. “A doctor should be someone who listens, explains, and guides—not just prescribes,” she says, underlining that specialized care is critical for complex conditions.

When it comes to rural health outreach, she stresses the need for education around personal hygiene, cervical cancer screenings, and self-breast examinations. She advocates introducing these practices at the school level, empowering young girls early on.

She also draws attention to the growing burden of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), now increasingly common among young women. “Clinical care combined with lifestyle changes, diet modifications, and exercise are key to managing such conditions,” she adds.

On childbirth, Dr. Siddiqui strongly supports natural vaginal deliveries wherever possible and encourages prenatal yoga, postnatal exercises, and better lactation support. She emphasizes that fears surrounding operative deliveries can often be overcome through proper counseling and preparation.

Sanjivini Super Speciality Hospital, a trusted name in healthcare, sees over 2 lakh patients annually and boasts a robust setup including a 24×7 NICU, Pediatrics, Anaesthesia, Blood Bank, and state-of-the-art minimally invasive surgical facilities. With a focus on affordability and quality, Sanjivini ensures that advanced healthcare services like cosmetic gynecology treatments are now accessible to more women, not just a privileged few.

Dr. Siddiqui also stresses the importance of addressing postpartum depression, linking physical and psychological well-being, and recommending early diagnosis for better outcomes.

Finally, she strongly advises women over 40 to undergo annual mammograms, especially those with a family history of cancer. “A combination of clinical check-ups and genetic profiling can help detect abnormalities before they become serious threats,” she concludes.
